With the Victoria Day long weekend just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start planning for your first backyard party of the season. While cold drinks and tasty treats are a must, these simple reminders will help you throw an outdoor event your guests are sure to remember:

1. Decorations:
Add some outdoor lights and colourful cushions to your patio furniture to welcome in spring and your guests.

2. Music: An upbeat, fun playlist can definitely enhance the atmosphere of the party. Songza, an online music playlist system, has hundreds of playlists to choose from depending on your mood and party vibe. Nothing says party like music!

3. Food:
When you have a number of guests over, chances are some people may have special dietary needs. To ensure everyone leaves happy and full, include a variety of items that can be done on the barbeque. In addition to hamburgers and hot dogs, add items like turkey or veggie burgers, grilled corn and other veggies to your menu. Side dishes and salads are also a great way to add variety.

4. Games: Try something new like a fun game that everyone can be involved in. We like “Photo To-Do List!” Before your guests arrive, make a list of different pictures people must take throughout the night, whether it’s showing off funny faces or snapping a shot with someone new. This is easy to organize and something to keep everyone laughing.

At our developments, we’re planning large outdoor places for BBQs, parties and gatherings to bring people together no matter the occasion. Learn more at www.harmonyvillage.ca
