Harmony Village Sheppard Exterior Rendering
We held a Town Hall meeting last month welcoming more than 175 community members, along with Ward 2 Councillor Lynn Strachan and Mayor Jeff Lehman. This meeting allowed Barrie residents to learn more about the architectural and design progress and meet with different members of our team. It was great to see familiar faces and meet new ones. With so much interest and excitement in Harmony Village Lake Simcoe, we wanted to take this opportunity to address some of the frequently asked questions from that evening.

When will the Presentation Gallery at 75 Bradford Street be open to the public?

The Presentation Gallery is currently under construction in preparation for the sales launch later this year.  Once the Presentation Gallery is complete, we will announce several exciting events for the community in our monthly e-newsletter and on harmonyvillage.ca

What is the status of the development?

Following our Town Hall meeting, the Harmony Village team submitted a re-zoning application for the proposed development. Currently, the envisioned Harmony Village Lake Simcoe development includes:

  • Five buildings offering a mix of market condominium, seniors rental and assisted living options to meet the growing and changing needs of Barrie's population.
  • The development will be built in four phases with townhouses, retail shops and restaurants, a public landscaped park and a community and wellness centre.
  • The envisioned community centre for Bradford Street will be approximately 37,000 square feet.
  • Underground, street-level, and alternative parking features (including bicycle racks) are incorporated throughout the various phases.
How will Harmony Village residences be tailored to meet the needs of varying ages? (i.e. seniors and assisted living vs. active adults)?

Harmony Village residences will include a combination of unit types that include market and rental options, as well as suites specifically geared to the senior population, offering assisted living services and care.

All our residence options are based on the philosophy of Universal Design. This design principal embraces barrier-free accessibility while maintaining aesthetically pleasing design regardless of age or health status. To ensure easy living for our residents, suites will have “no-threshold” shower options to eliminate trip hazards. In the kitchen, wall-mounted microwaves and ovens are standard to ensure simple and enjoyable places to cook and eat.

What features of the development are planned for Phase 1?

Our Phase 1 launch proposes the following residential and amenity components along Bradford Street and Lakeshore:

  • Townhouses
  • Community centre
  • Two residential buildings
  • Retail uses
Additional residences, retail and amenities are incorporated throughout the phases, which together will create a vibrant and exciting destination for Harmony Village residents and community members.

How will Harmony Village Lake Simcoe integrate with the waterfront? Will there still be easy access?

Harmony Village is unique because of its close proximity to the lakeshore. With this in mind, our team of architects from RAW Design/The Planning Partnership and Diamond Schmitt Architects are committed to ensuring Harmony Village Lake Simcoe integrates seamlessly with the waterfront. To do this, the plans include a large, open landscaped park space that connects to the water’s edge with the buildings designed to connect to the lakeshore through the site. Residents and community members will be able to access the waterfront and enjoy a host of activities.  There will be something for everyone at Harmony Village.

At Harmony Village, we always welcome your feedback and encourage you to connect with us at info@harmonyvillage.ca for any questions about the development.
