City Core Developments has selected the work of three Georgian College fine arts students to display at the Harmony Village Lake Simcoe presentation centre.

A unique art competition was held giving aspiring artists in the community a chance to see their work move from the classroom to the showroom.

Students were asked to design an art fixture that reflected the vision and surroundings of the future waterfront development.

Seven students were announced as finalists, the original idea was to choose one design, but judges were so impressed they picked two!

The winning entry, “Reflections,” was designed by students Libby Mourant, Samantha Seitz, and Karen Dobbs.

The winning team will be awarded $5,000 to cover the cost of materials and construction and the two finalists will each be awarded $2,500 and their designs will also be hung in the Presentation Gallery on 75 Bradford Street when it opens later this year.

Located along Barrie’s waterfront, Harmony Village will be a resort-like community with an urban village feel.

As a mixed-use development it is aimed at inspiring and rekindling an active lifestyle in today’s generation of baby boomers.

The urban village concept is surrounded by shops and restaurants, as well as essential services including medical and professional offices.

Each Harmony Village unit is built using the latest in sustainable and energy efficient materials.
