A “staycation” is a great way to explore your own city and creating memorable experiences, especially if jetting off to another destination isn’t in the cards this year.

With March break coming up, we have some ideas just for you:

Play Hometown Tourist: You may be surprised at how much fun it is to be a tourist in your own town. Make a list of the top tourist attractions that you rarely visit (i.e. the CN Tower) and try to visit them all. Make an extra effort to explore unique restaurants or cafes that you’ve been meaning to try, such as O.Noir in Toronto or Manhattan’s Kitchen and Bar in Barrie.

Be a Hotel Guest: Check in to a local hotel for a night and take in all the fun things that most of us don’t have in our own homes: whirlpool bath tubs, brand-new little soaps, pools and saunas, spas, maid service, etc. Be sure to opt for a late checkout so you can sleep in and enjoy a lazy breakfast in the hotel restaurant or brought to your bed by room service. Check out Hotel Le Germaine in Toronto, which features wonderful getaway packages, or the historic and beautiful Creighton Manor Inn just 30 minutes outside of Barrie.

Visit a Day Spa: Spend a few hours at a day spa getting yourself a heavenly massage that will leave your body relaxed and your mind clear. For a real treat, find a spa that will give you access to other amenities like a sauna or steam room, such as the Hammam Spa in Toronto, and make a whole day of it!

Treat yourself: Let yourself indulge in the little things that make you happy – grab an ice cream cone from Ed’s Real Scoop, splurge on a pedicure or catch an afternoon movie. Whatever it is, let yourself enjoy without any guilt!
