October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, when women, men, children, families and communities come together in support of those battling breast cancer, raising awareness and working towards a cure.

Beyond promoting early detection and preventative measures offered in your community, you can get involved by participating in fundraising events like the annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. This year, the run is taking place on Sunday, October 6. It’s Canada’s largest single-day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, education and awareness programs. To get involved in your area, visit the Run for the Cure website.

At Harmony Village, seminars will be held for residents and the community around various health topics, including breast cancer. Harmony Village will welcome local experts who will open up the conversation around the disease, early detection techniques and preventative measures.

Have you ever participated in CIBC Run for the Cure? Tell us your story on Facebook!
